Client charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for participating in a drive by shooting that left one child injured and another child dead. Case went to trial as one of the first cases of this level to be tried during the COVID-19 era. After a week long jury trial, the jury found the client NOT GUILTY of capital murder. The case ended in a plea agreement on lesser charges the defendant was found guilty of.
Case went to a grand jury hearing and after Nelson Knight presented a grand jury packet of information to the grand jury, the case was no-billed and the charges will not be prosecuted further.

Reduced to reckless injury to a child, no prison time
Client charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Client's parent's retained Mr. Knight and after many months of working on the case and persuading the District Attorney's Office of the weaknesses of their case, Mr. Knight secured a multi-level reduction in the charges to a simple state jail felony with no sex offender registration instead of a first degree felony with lifetime sex offender registration. Beyond that, Mr. Knight secured deferred probation for his client so that his client will not be convicted of any felony relating to these charges.
I was hired shortly after a major auto accident in which my client was intoxicated and accidentally ran over his best friend who had just called my client to come get him from the scene of an accident he had just been in. The highway on which the accident happened had major construction going on at the time and posed a danger to motorists on the road and when my client came up to the previous accident scene he was not able to stop in time and subsequently ran over and killed his best friend.
I prepared a presentation to the grand jury in Dallas detailing what happened and how devastated my client and the family of his friend are and the grand jury decided to no-bill the intoxication manslaughter charge (a second-degree felony carrying a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison) and instead charged my client with a misdemeanor DWI charge.
Client in Collin County charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault after causing a wreck and killing one person and injuring the other.
My client was driving a dump truck at 10:30 in the morning and was at a .301 blood alcohol level when he ran into the side of a small car that turned in front of his truck.
